Product Overview
Whey calcium (also known as milk calcium or whey inorganic salt concentrate) is a valuable source of inorganic salts with good nutritional benefits and high digestibility. Milk contains about 0.7% total inorganic salts, with calcium making up approximately 0.1%. Compared to other food sources of calcium, whey calcium is superior due to the presence of about 70% calcium in casein micelles, including approximately 40% colloidal calcium phosphate and 30% casein-bound calcium. Around 30% of the calcium in milk is soluble, with 30% being ionic calcium, 60% calcium citrate, and 10% calcium phosphate.
Whey calcium is a natural, high-activity calcium extracted from milk. It contains milk minerals and provides balanced nutrition, aiding in calcium absorption with components like phosphorus, magnesium, lactose, and protein. Its calcium-to-phosphorus ratio of 2:1 enhances absorption. Due to its high lactose and protein content, its absorption rate is significantly higher than other types of calcium—up to 62%–70%, which is 2.5 times that of calcium carbonate and calcium gluconate, 1.75 times that of calcium lactate, and 5.5 times that of calcium from shellfish. It does not cause bloating, swelling, or constipation, making it an excellent source of calcium for infants.
Whey calcium, derived from milk and processed into a mineral salt mixture through dehydration, defatting, and spray drying, includes calcium citrate, calcium phosphate, and ionic calcium, along with zinc, phosphorus, protein, immunoglobulins, growth factors, and lactoferrin. It is much less likely to cause rejection or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, including infants and pregnant women. Its high absorption rate and balanced nutrient composition make it ideal for calcium supplementation.

Benefits and Uses of Whey Calcium
- Bone Growth - Supplementing with calcium can aid in increasing height, especially during sleep when growth hormones are most active.
- Weight Management - Increased blood calcium levels can enhance the secretion of calcitonin, which may reduce appetite and aid in weight loss by binding to fatty acids and cholesterol in the intestines.
- Skin Health - Regular calcium supplementation can improve skin color and elasticity, reduce wrinkles, and maintain hair gloss.
- Preventing Myopia - Adequate calcium intake can help maintain normal eye pressure, potentially preventing myopia, especially during adolescence.
- Preventing PMS - Supplementing with sufficient calcium can reduce premenstrual symptoms such as mood swings, depression, abdominal pain, and breast tenderness by balancing hormone levels. Whey calcium has a high absorption rate of 80%, compared to other calcium sources.
